If you thought Manhattan was an awe-inspiring, jam-packed island brimming with structural brilliance, then get a load of this engineering masterpiece.
This mesmerising installation by Stockholm-based artist Nina Lindgren completely boggles the mind. Hundreds of intricate cardboard buildings have been cleverly bound together to form an amazing architectural island.
Aptly titled Floating City, this piece reminds us of a densely populated Brazilian favela…with thousands of structures tightly packed together like pieces of a geometric puzzle.
On initial viewing, the floating metropolis appears complex and chaotic. Yet as you continue to admire it as it floats peacefully in mid air, you cant help but feel a little dreamy.
And if you stare long enough, you will even start to notice life radiating from within thanks to a set of lights that have been planted deep inside the cardboard jungle. Twinkle twinkle.
Wow. It’s beautiful. I love it. I like to imagine the people who would live there too.
Absolutely stunning! What a magical piece!
