I’ve had my eye on this adorable baby seal for a long time. I finally read the stories that inspired the series and saw the other creations by the Icelandic design collective Vík Prjónsdóttir and I’m in love with the whole collection!

I love products that come with a magical touch of storytelling. Vík Prjónsdóttir tells us a sad ancient story from Iceland about a seal who lost her pelt. I’ve always loved mythical stories from around the world. You can read it here but it’s even better to to hear it spoken in Icelandic in the video below.

Their beautiful and fun designs bring back the ancient myths of the land to modern life. With the combination of the designers’ talents in realising inspiration from their own culture into contemporary products and the production methods using the best local materials and craftsmanship, that connection to the myths & land can be felt close to the skin.

Visit their site to read the stories and admire a large range of beautiful blankets and sealpelt-themed onesies and don’t even think of the word ‘slankets’.
