We love these simple yet magical drawings of animals by Dutch artist Rop Van Mierlo. Magical because the untamed ink spreading fast on the wet surface of the paper makes these animals look wild and alive.
The process and the results are close to children’s works and a look of innocence. However each drawing beautifully and skilfully captures the sense of each animal.
I find them very captivating and instead of staring at the screen too long, I’d better get the books! They’ll be a great addition to children’s art books / animal books and will inspire their artistic experiments at home.
Rop Van Mierlo has published two books of animal drawings called ‘Wild Animals’ and ‘Some Logic’.
Here are a few images from the book ‘Wild Animals‘
And some from the new book ‘Some Logic‘
They look warm, fuzzy & totally huggable! : )
There are many more animals on the artist’s site. You can buy these books and lovely prints there. Enjoy!
So cute. Yes, warm and fuzzy!
Wow! I literally said that aloud to myself when I saw these. Fuzzy indeed! Gorgeous too.
