Emotion Flashcards with Emotional Robots

Free printable emotion flashcards featuring a cast of expressive robots — a fun, imaginative way to help young children identify, name and talk about feelings.

Great for preschool and early years settings, or at home. Use them for vocabulary building, storytelling games, or as a starting point for conversations about emotions and empathy.

How to use emotion flashcards

Emotion flashcards are useful for teaching young children to identify their feelings, find words to express them, and begin to recognise and understand other people's emotions. Learning empathy alongside self-expression in a supportive environment is an important part of early childhood development.

Make it playful with the robots

This set features 'emotional robots' to make the topic more imaginative and entertaining. Can robots have feelings like people? It's a surprisingly rich question for children to explore. You can invent stories about each robot — what might have happened to make them feel that way? If all these robots know each other, who did what to whom to cause these feelings? Encouraging children to project emotions onto characters helps them process their own feelings at a safe distance.

Try pairing these with our Make a Face emotion toy for a more hands-on emotions learning session.
