Let’s travel to the magical world of Crowded Teeth!
Crowded Teeth is a whimsical universe where sweet good times, cuteness overload and a dose of delicious weirdness are all awaiting us. This 10 year old brand by illustrator Michelle Romo is filled with vivid characters trying to give you hugs and share their fun adventures with you.
As a self-taught illustrator, Michelle has created a wonderful body of work over the years, with her love of Mid-century, Japanese pop culture and all things cute as fuel (along with cookies and naps she says). She has launched a range of fab products with Land of Nod, collaborated with The Flaming Lips, Sanrio and Disney and continues experimenting with different media, creating sculptures, exhibiting installations, spreading happy feelings from her studio in LA to the world.
We’re super lucky to have something very special from her soon here on Mr P & I can’t wait to share it with you. While the drums roll, today we’d love to show you some of her works. These are only a fraction of the seemingly endless imaginative worlds & cuteness on her site, so check out tons more over there.
One of our favorites is a series of illustrations called Super Mini Universe. It’s an ambitious project where she dreams up an entire world, from realms in outer space to the underground, densely populated with her cute creatures going about things (maybe something mischievous? it certainly looks like lots of parties are involved). Starting with a kind of overview map of this universe, it carries on with a series of rich illustrations with zoomed in scenes of different areas where you can meet everyone right up-close. The project is now becoming an on-going extravagant travelling art show with sculptures, plush characters, prints and more!
We definitely want to go to there! And make friends with all of them!
